FROM YUGOSLAVIA TO DAYTON AGREEMENT – MONUMENTS AND CULTURE OF REMEMEBRANCE

Association for Social Research and Communication (UDIK), supported by the Open Society Fund B&H, implements a project entitled „Guide For Culture Of Remembrance INside Memorials B&H ’92 – ’95“. The goal of the project is to contribute to the building of a culture of remembrance in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the prevention of unplanned and massive construction of monuments through education on memorials and monumental culture. The experts engaged in the project worked on the preparation of an appropriate manual covering areas of history, transitional justice and monumental culture.

In the period from May to August 2017, UDIK held a series of three seminars for lecturers, teachers and history teachers in cooperation with the Association of History Teachers (EURO CLIO HIP BiH). The aim of the workshops was to pass a series of four lectures on the aforementioned areas and train lecturers to acquire knowledge in workshops use in working with their students. Workshops were held in Banja Luka, Brcko and Mostar.

The lecturers were:

  • Edin Radusic – Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo,
  • Nerzuk Curak, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo,
  • Amra Custo, Institute for the Protection of the Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage of Canton Sarajevo and
  • Edvin Kanka Cudic, Association for Social Research and Communication Sarajevo.

The final presentation of the manual will be organized at the end of the year in Sarajevo.
