Association for Social Research and Communication (UDIK) is proud to announce that Human Rights Activist and UDIK’s President Edvin Kanka Ćudić was nominated for the Emerging Europe Awards 2019 in the category Young Influencers of the Year. This category was open to young people, no older than 30 years old, who – through politics, social activism, another influencing activity or by their own example – influenced society in their community, country or in the wider region, for the better, in 2018.
The London-based think tank Emerging Europe, which aims at fostering the economic and social development of the CEE region, has announced the names of the 120 companies, organisations and individuals who have been nominated for its 2019 awards.
Ćudić founded the UDIK in 2013 in order to document human rights violations committed during the war conflicts in the countries of the former SFR Yugoslavia. The Emerging Europe Leaders’ Meeting & Awards is an initiative aimed at showcasing the best of the CEE and to “promote the values of vision, empowerment and leadership”. Selected from a total of almost 1,000 applicants, the 120 nominees of this second edition come from all of the 23 countries which make up the region.
Edvin Kanka Ćudić is the only candidate for this prestigious award from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in the race for this recognition with another nine activists: Florin Badita (Romania), Olga Grudniak (Poland), Mateusz Hołda (Poland), Ondřej Kania (Czech Republic), Timotej Kotnik (Slovenia), Olga Kudinenko (Ukraine), Margo Lazarenko (Belarus), Marek Materek (Poland) and Taras Yavorskyy (Ukraine).
Winners will be announced as part of the Emerging Europe Leaders’ Meeting & Awards, which will take place on 27-28 June at the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
