The Association for Social Research and Communications (UDIK), in cooperation with the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) and the Network for Peace building, informs the public that on Sunday, 30 August 2015, will organize activity to mark the International Day of the Disappeared. The activity will be held in Sarajevo from 11am till 2pm in front of the monument for Murdered Children from Sarajevo.

We remind that the United Nations declared August 30 as the International Day of the Disappeared. The impulse for the day came from the Latin America Associations which unite the families of missing and abducted persons. This day is an inevitable opportunity to once again in the year actualizes clarification of cases of missing persons, but also teaches the public about the value of any information about the missing person. Families of missing persons have the right to know the truth about the fate of their loved ones, and society has a legal and moral obligation to help them in their quest.

The total number of missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina is 34 965. We are still searching for 7,000 people. This is why on Sunday we will remember all missing persons and express support to families who have not yet exercised their basic humanitarian law – found out the truth about the fate of their loved ones.
